Happy Birthday Barb Zeigler!

That's all, just happy birthday!!

Legs 4 & 5 - staying in Lawrenceville

We did a "fly by to continue" at the end of leg 4 so we did not stop in Kalamazoo. Thanks to all the volunteers in Kalamazoo. We are now in Lawrenceville, IL and have decided to spend the night here. Team 15, our friends from Eastern PA 99s are also here. We are going to go out to dinner.

Started the day with some Fruit Loops!

Took a last minute photo of the stop chairs in Jeffersonville. Thank you ladies!

The terrain is looking a little different on these two legs.

Some of the teams pose for a photo for the local paper in Lawrenceville.

Making our way through the town of Vincennes on the way to the hotel

After a great shower, it's time for dinner!

Teams 15, 35 and 52 went to dinner at Applebes.

While we were there, three more team came in. That makes six teams staying here.

On the way home from dinner, we found three more teams. That makes 9.

As we approached the hotel, we found one more team. So at least 10 teams are here tonight! Good night everyone, have a good night and safe racing tomorrow.

Leg 3 - Connellsville, PA to Jeffersonville, IN

No inflight pictures for leg 3

Lots of food in Jeffersonville, IN. Yes, that is a chocolate fountain!

They are close to Louisville so there was a big Kentucky theme.

They even had airplane cookies with our numbers. Note that #35 is on top, just like,we will,be at the end if the race .

Even decorated snack bags!

This is Louise from the Kentucky Blue Grass chapter of the 99s. She gave us a ride to and from our hotel. Thanks Louise!!

Leg 2 - Hickory, NC to Connellsville, PA

Some scenery on the way to Connellsville, PA.

At Connellsville, we had the privilege of meeting Florence "Shutsy" Reynolds, a World War II WASP. She was terrific!

Leg 1 - Stafford, VA to Hickory, NC

We are underway on leg 1 and already looking hot!

Some scenery

Our fan club greets us Hickory.

Congratulations Heather, you are now part of history. You are an Air Race Classic Racer!

The hospitality was awesome!

Lots of volunteers and food!

Even some mascots!

I ran into Marlene, someone who used to work at Pfizer in NC and who raced a few years ago.

The start

It took some serious muscle to get the planes out of the grass at the start.

My dad came to see us off.

So did Heather's husband and two of her daughters.

Being #35, we get to watch some if the early plane takeoff.

Time for takeoff, Heather's family heads back to the terminal.

We are almost to the starting line!
